Strengthening German-Chinese collaboration

TUM expands cooperation with Shanghai Jiao Tong University

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is expanding its collaboration with Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) as part of its excellence strategy TUM AGENDA 2030+. The focus areas include drone delivery services, high-performance materials and intelligent manufacturing technologies, as well as health science. On the occasion of SJTU's 130th anniversary celebrations, TUM President Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann signed a corresponding agreement during a visit to Shanghai.

New program for spin-offs from the social sciences

Research with greater impact

Not all ideas from the social sciences that have the potential to improve society make it into practice. Through the new Catalyst GER program, the Technical University of Munich (TUM) will support research teams that aim to achieve sustainable societal impact through a spin-off or other forms of knowledge transfer.

TUM achieves EU research breakthrough

First university-designed 7-nanometer AI chip

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) has unveiled the EU's first AI chip using modern 7-nanometer technology. The neuromorphic chip was designed by Prof. Hussam Amrouch in accordance with the industry standards set by world-leading chip manufacturer TSMC. The professor of AI processor design and his research group now plan to produce at least three new designs per year, to be manufactured from 2028 onward by the Dresden-based European Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (ESMC).
