Document requirements for application and enrollment at TUM

For application and enrollment at TUM, you must upload authentic documents to TUMonline that provide proof of your school education or academic career.

For a Bachelor’s degree program, these are usually the higher education entrance qualification, for a Master’s degree program the graduation documents or the transcript of your completed Bachelor’s degree program. You can find a detailed list of the documents you need to upload in your TUMonline account in your application status.

If you are unsure about individual documents, please visit our glossary of documents.

Please make sure to adhere to the TUM style guide for application documents when preparing your application.

Current information for applicants from Iran

Applicants from Iran who are already in Germany:

If applicants from Iran are already in Germany and can no longer obtain the required legalization stamp on their educational documents from the German Embassy in Tehran, the following procedure is possible, as an exception, provided the applicants have their original certificates with them in Germany:

  1. Have the original certificates translated by a certified translator; the translated certificates must be stamped by the certified translator confirming that the translations were prepared based on the original certificates
  2. Have the original certificates officially notarized by a notary
  3. Upload the officially notarized copy of the original and the translation of the certificate prepared by the sworn translator to TUMonline, including a note stating that the translation was prepared based on the original certificate

Applicants from Iran who are not currently in Germany:

At present, the Embassy in Tehran is unable to authenticate Iranian documents. Information to this effect is published on the embassy’s website.

At present, it is also not possible to apply for a visa. The Federal Foreign Office is seeking solutions for individuals who are already on the embassy’s waiting list. No new registrations to the waiting list are currently possible for purposes of study.

Regrettably, until this situation changes, the university has no discretion to take alternative action.
