Dr. Alina Gales

The exhibition “HAAR – MACHT – LUST” at Kunsthalle München invites visitors on a timulating, sensory, and surprising journey through three millennia of the art and cultural history of hair. TUM Center for Culture and Arts is collaborating with Kunsthalle to present a series of accompanying lectures.

Hair is an expression of identity, power, and belonging – even in the digital space. But who decides which images of the body and gender are visible? Social media and AI systems shape our perception more than we realize. This lecture highlights how algorithmic processes reinforce, distort, or normalize stereotypical role models – and how these digital power structures can be identified and critically questioned.

Alina Gales holds a doctorate in cultural studies. She heads the Diversity & Inclusion department at the Technical University of Munich and is a speaker on the social impact of artificial intelligence.

  • Admission: € 5 / € 3, tickets will be available soon at the Kunsthalle website.
