Juliane Au (Kunsthalle MUC)

The exhibition “HAAR – MACHT – LUST” at Kunsthalle München invites visitors on a timulating, sensory, and surprising journey through three millennia of the art and cultural history of hair. TUM Center for Culture and Arts is collaborating with Kunsthalle to present a series of accompanying lectures.

Hair has been telling stories for thousands of years. It is a sign of belonging, protest, or self-assertion. Few things shape our first impression as much as hairstyle. Using selected works, curator Juliane Au shows how artists use hair as an expression of personal identity as well as social expectations and attributions. At the same time, she provides exciting insights into the creation of the exhibition.

Juliane Au is an art historian and curator. She has been working as a project curator at the Kunsthalle München since 2024.

  • Admission: € 5 / € 3, tickets will be available soon at the Kunsthalle website.
  • As part of the cooperation, a limited number of free tickets is available exclusively for TUM students.

  • The lecture will take place in the Garden Salon of the Kunsthalle Munich and will be held in German.
